Stu Weissman Stu Weissman

As a veteran of the Buffalo music scene for nearly three decades, guitarist Stu Weissman has displayed his remarkable talents in nearly every available venue He has performed on major stages like Kleinhans Music Hall with The Buffalo Philharmonic, where he backed-up Ethel Merman, Theodore Bickel, and Dianne Carol. But he is also at home in more intimate settings like corner bistros and coffee-houses. Equally comfortable as a sideman or leader, Stu led the 67th Ave band which was often featured at the Tralfamadore Café in downtown Buffalo. Throughout The 1980’s, Stu’s dazzling guitar playing was featured at the Buffalo Jazz Workshop’s summer concert series on the steps of the Albright Knox.

Stu is also known for his extensive public and private performances on solo guitar as well as guitar-and-bass duos. He is very quick to speak reverently of his local influences: guitarist James Clark, and pianists Joe Madison and Al Tinney. A teacher as well as a performer, Stu was an adjunct instructor of guitar at Buffalo State College from 1980 – 1997. Stu is very pleased to be considered part of the String Brothers family.
